Hi! We're Noteworthy - GMU's treble voiced a cappella group!

Pardon our dust... website under construction!

Who are we?

Currently, we are GMU's only treble voices a cappella group! We aspire to share our love for music with our community by performing music throughout the year. Historically an all-female group, we are now creating a community that empowers our members of all backgrounds and identities.

What do we do?

We learn a repertoire of songs that fit a theme set for a semester. We perform these songs at events that we are invited to and our end-of-the-semester concerts! Since Spring 2022, we have participated in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, or ICCAs - a yearly competition where collegiate a cappella groups perform! Think Pitch Perfect :)

Keep checking back on this website as the Fall semester gets closer for more information! To prepare for your audition, please prepare a verse and a chorus (around 30 sec to 1 min) from a song of your choice. Audition FAQs

When are rehearsals?

Rehearsals in Fall 2023/Spring 2024 will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Fall 2024/Spring 2025 is subject to change and will be announced at a later date.Additional rehearsals may be held leading up to concerts and ICCAs.

What if I can't make all the rehearsal days? Can I still audition?

If you cannot make all three rehearsal days a week, this does not automatically disqualify you from being able to audition. Explain the situation, and we will do our best to work with you!

Do I need to sign up for a specific time slot for auditions?

No, you don't. You can show up to auditions anywhere between 7:30pm and 9:30pm and there you will sign up for your audition. Depending on how many people are there when you are, you may have to wait, or you may be able to go in immediately!
If you do need to audition at a specific time, please reach out to the Noteworthy email (linked below) to schedule your audition time.

Can I audition virtually?

The short answer is no, virtual auditions are not permitted on a regular basis.
However, we understand extraordinary circumstances occur and may cause someone to miss out on in-person auditions. If this applies to you, please reach out to the Noteworthy email (linked below) before the audition days to set up a virtual audition.

Do I have to be able to read music to audition?

Reading music is not a requirement to be a part of Noteworthy. We almost always provide some sort of vocal guide to help learn music, and we learn music together as a group!

What happens after auditions?

There will be callbacks the week after auditions. After callbacks, the new members of the group will be announced.
